In recent years, Newark Educators Community Charter School (NECCS) has made notable strides in academic performance, especially in ELA and math. Through dedicated efforts and effective educational strategies, NECCS has fostered an environment of growth, pushing student performance to new heights.
Over the past two years, NECCS’s students have demonstrated steady improvement in standardized testing. In ELA (English Language Arts), proficiency levels have risen from 25% in 2022 to 43% in 2023, reaching 51% in 2024. This consistent upward trend reflects the school’s commitment to developing literacy skills and fostering a love for reading and writing among its students.
Similarly, NECCS has seen impressive progress in math. The math proficiency rate climbed from 16% in 2022 to 32% in 2023, culminating at 47% in 2024. These increases underscore NECCS’s focus on building strong numeracy and problem-solving skills, equipping students to meet the demands of an increasingly data-driven world.
In December 2023, NECCS was recognized for its efforts, ranking #6 among all Newark public and charter schools for 3rd-grade NJSLA reading scores. This acknowledgment highlights the school’s dedication to academic excellence and its impact within the Newark community.
As NECCS looks forward, it remains dedicated to advancing educational standards and promoting academic achievement. The school’s approach — blending rigorous instruction with a supportive, student-centered environment — has proven effective and promises continued success in the years to come.
