Family Events

Building relationships begins before school opens with a letter of introduction written by the teachers to each of their students and families and an annual Family Picnic, held outdoors in late August. Last year over 300 students and family members who  attended the festivities, which included a delicious meal,a chance to visit classrooms and the creation of a school community  paper quilt, 200 drawings by K-3rd grade students, taped together, displayed in the school lobby and celebrated by all who enter the building.

Events throughout the school year include:

  • School wide curriculum nights, during which classroom teachers present a curriculum overview, classroom policies and expectations, and a basic overview of what a day looks like in their classroom.
  • Family interviews and progress conferences
  • Celebrations of at least three integrated curriculum studies created to demonstrate student learning through the publishing of  research studies,  and the sharing of artistic renderings of relevant content etc.
  • And quarterly Family/Staff Retreats, day long Saturdays filled with good food, friendly company, family support workshops, educational activities, dance, music and art.
