Enrollment at NECCS

The Newark Educators' Community Charter School is a free, independent, public school. There are no fees or tuition for attending. There are no academic of other requirements for enrollment -- all children, grades K - 4, are welcome

To be eligible for Kindergarten, students must turn five years old in time to register in their local district. The cutoff date in Newark is October 1.

Preference for enrollment is given to students living in Newark. Students from other districts in New Jersey are welcome as space permits. If there are more students than spots available, we will hold a lottery to determine the priority in which students are admitted.

You must come to an information meeting or visit our school at 17-19 Crawford Street to register for the lottery.

NECCS requires the same documentation for registration as other public schools. You must provide:

  • Proof of guardianship, such as an original birth certificate, tax return listing the student as a dependent, or court order granting custody.
  • Three forms of identification that prove residency, such as a driver's license, utility bill, or tax return.
  • An up to date immunization record.
  • Proof of enrollment in your local district.

Important Note: You must register your child in the Newark school district prior to attending the Newark Educators' Community Charter School. Contact your local school district for instructions, or contact us if you have questions.
