(PBIS) Positive Behavioral Interventions in Schools

NECCS is committed to establishing a safe and nurturing learning environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.  NECCS values and enforces preventive measures as a means to successfully achieve these goals. All constituents will have a voice, responsibilities, the right to participate, and opportunities to succeed. Respect for oneself, others and the school shall be modeled by all children and staff. Students will be expected to practice the appropriate behavior in the school building, on school buses, and outside in the community.  


Anti bullying Week Every school year NECCS celebrates respect week. Anti-bullying Awareness is highlighted each morning with the Anti-bullying pledge being recited as a community.  All classes design t-shirts with different slogans and words against violence.  As a closing activity the entire school school community comes together for a assembly.

Spirit Week

During School Spirit Week students celebrate their school pride by participating in activities planned for each day of the week . The week ends with a whole school assembly and we celebrate the upper grade students for their dedication in preparing the NJ ASK test.

Star Scholar Family Breakfast

Star Scholar nomination give the students the drive to do their very best. Star Scholar nominations take place each month, one student is selected from each class by the teachers and recognized for showing DREAMS. The students have their picture taken and along with a blurb written by the teachers they are then posted in the lobby. The Star Scholar along with their family are invited to celebrate with a breakfast with the students being pinned with a ribbon by their family.

D.R.E.A.M.S. Students are responsible for following the code of conduct to support positive decision making and a healthy school climate: Determination, Respect, Excellence, Attitude, Make a Difference, and Safety. Students at Newark Educators Community Charter School are expected to abide by these principles in all areas of the school and community.
